What’s the City Like?
The typical Falcon Heights home is between 1400 to 2000 square feet, with many models having been updated to include finished basements, increasing their square footage dramatically. Most of the homes were built between the 1930 and 1970, with the most popular style being one-and-a-half stories. Most of the lots are standard city lots, approximately 1/4 acre in size.
What’s Going On in Falcon Heights?
Falcon Heights is best known as the home to the Minnesota State Fair. Every year, nearly 2 million people descend upon the State Fairgrounds for the “Great Minnesota Get-Together” in the week prior to Labor Day, enjoying food, performances, rides, games, and more. Additional events take place at the fairgrounds year-round, including St. Paul Winter Carnival events, sporting events, and exhibitions of all kinds.
A full two-thirds of Falcon Heights is public land, primarily the State Fairgrounds and property owned by the University of Minnesota, including agricultural test fields and a public 18-hole golf course. During winter months, the golf course makes land available for recreational nordic skiing. Falcon Heights also provides summer and winter recreation options at two parks, Falcon Heights Community Park and Curtiss Field.
The Como Park neighborhood is located to the southeast, and within Como Park are countless recreation and entertainment options, including the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, Lake Como, and miles of paved trails for running and cycling.
Falcon Heights is roughly 6 miles from the nearest major hospital, with many medical clinics located near the city limits. Public bus service is available, with routes and stops on the major thoroughfares in and around the city.
What Schools Will the Kids Attend?
Falcon Heights is served by the Roseville Area School District #623. Falcon Heights Elementary (K-6) is the public school option located within the city limits, with many other options for K-12 education found throughout the school district.
